WHO FARTED Innocent / Finder Deep Dive
Play the investigating majority with clean info, timed pressure, and fewer grief throws.
Role summary
If you are not the secret farter in WHO FARTED?, you are on the investigating side—call it innocent, finder, or survivor depending on what the client displays. Your shared job matches the pitch: find the farter before they fart on you. With roughly 10 seats, majority numbers only help if you refuse to donate free mislynches.
Deep how-to: Find the Farter. Enemy mindset: Farter. Mid-round checklist: Suspicion Tracker.
Success looks like
- Claims are checkable, not pure vibes.
- Votes arrive when two signals align.
- Dead or spectating players pass useful notes without spam.
- The lobby still has bandwidth to react when the farter finally pushes.
Winning as town is a team sport even when the UI never says “team.”
Early round priorities
- Confirm camera and chat comfort (Controls).
- Note immediate self-nominators and instant detectives.
- Track duos who auto-clear each other.
- Store raw observations before crowning a suspect.
Avoid S-tier violations from the strategy tier list such as blind first-accuse sprays unless isolation is already happening.
Information hygiene
Good claims
“A shadowed B from spawn to the side hall, then muted when asked where they were.”
Bad claims
“A is weird.” / “I just know.” / “Trust me bro.”
Write like someone on mobile must reread you under pressure. Short structured callouts rank high for a reason.
Clearing players
Clear with reasons you would accept if you were farter-hunting tomorrow. Fake clears teach the lobby to ignore you. Hard clears should be rare and evidence-backed.
Mid-round engine
Keep a top two or three suspect list. For each:
- Personal sighting
- Second-hand claim
- What would exonerate them
Promote on independent agreement; demote on public contradiction. The Suspicion Tracker exists so you do not rely on chaotic memory in joke lobbies.
Voting philosophy
Push when evidence stacks or a window is closing. Hold when you are one good pathing check away from certainty. Ask binary questions to break liars: left or right, alone or with whom, before or after the scare.
If a friend stack hard-tunnels a solo, demand they disagree on a detail. Stacks that never split reads are a meta problem—not proof, but a flag.
Baiting and positioning
Soft bait with backup beats hero walks into voids. Stay in semi-public routes, plant a watcher, and see who shadows. Camping a single chokepoint forever is only B/C tier—pair it with information goals, not vibes.
When you rotate, announce briefly so allies do not think you vanished like a guilty farter.
Social pitfalls for innocents
- Ego votes after being teased in chat.
- Essay wars that the farter uses as cover.
- Ignoring mobile players who cannot keep up with voice-only plans.
- Scapegoating the free skin wearer — cosmetics ≠ alignment; see free fart skin.
- Calling scripts on people without proof — and never downloading executors yourself (Scripts).
Learning from the farter page
Read Win as Farter even if you hate the role. Knowing truthful misdirection and calm defense patterns prevents you from falling for them. When you finally roll farter, you will also throw less because you respect town tools.
Practice plan
- Five rounds: no first-accuse allowed.
- Five rounds: accuse only with two written signals.
- One session: only play support—ask questions, never lead votes.
- One session: lead votes with templates from Find the Farter.
- Review using Getting Started notes and adjust.
Rewards while playing town
Innocents still claim account rewards: Like + group skin, future codes if added, and enjoyment of clean wins. The WIN AS FARTER badge is the opposite-role trophy—queue enough and you will see it when selection lands, especially if you own 2x chance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What are innocents called in-game?
Follow the client label each patch—innocent, finder, or implied majority. Functionally you investigate the farter.
How many suspects should I track?
Two or three. Use the Suspicion Tracker to keep the list sharp.
Should I accuse quiet players first?
Not by default. Silence is a soft flag only—pair it with pathing or story issues.
Do cosmetics mean someone is the farter?
No. The free fart skin is a Like + group reward, not an alignment marker.
